But when we were in New Mexico, I was so busy working on the Sketchbook Project that I only did one sketch. And we're leaving for the beach on Sunday! Catching up on my travel sketchbook is high on the priority list. Right up there with packing :-) Luckily, I pack light. Especially my art supplies. My Zentangle supplies fit in a box the size of a paperback with room for my paints.
Here are all of my travel sketchbook supplies. |
So, while Birdie was at her 4H meeting tonight, I sat in the car and started a sketch of sunrise in Ruidoso, NM. Mountains are a challenge to me, living her in the flat lands, but I am improving.

Happy PPF. Hope your painting makes you happy, too.
Happy PPF too!
ReplyDeleteWhat luscious looking paint colors you use. What kind of sketchbook are you using? Good use of time. That's a difficult subject and you are capturing it well. Happy PPF.
ReplyDeleteI'm using a 5.5" square drawing book by Global Arts. It tends to buckle a bit if I make my painting too wet, but it flattens out. Global Art Materials 5-1/2-Inch by 5-1/2-Inch Drawing Book, The Square in Ivory Black
DeleteAt first I thought you were painting while driving...WRONG. Nice painting and like your blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!

If I could paint while driving, I think I'd enter America's Got Talent. Wouldn't that be fun to watch :-)
DeleteLovely painting and always great when someone recognizes where it is ~ eh? Have fun! ~~thanks, namaste, (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great use of down time as you waited for Birdie. Lovely work. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work- I don't think it matters WHAT kind of paints you use when you get results like this!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!

Great painting! I love paintings of mountains. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteYou have to grab a bit of painting time any time you can don't you... this is pretty wonderful xx
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Tracey. If I tried to wait until I had a large block of time to paint, I'd never get anything done. Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
DeleteThe mountains are special to paint with watercolors. Saludos
ReplyDeleteI love your travel kit, you have to use what works! Nice job on the mountains. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Having a travel sketch set makes it so easy to record your trips, and the memories are so much more intense that photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes sketching while traveling adds so many more memories. Like last year in Ukraine where we got left behind on TWO tours on the same day because Birdie and I were both sketching and the tour left without us! The sad thing is that my mother was on one of the tours with us and she didn't even miss us. That is what I remember every time I look at that sketch :-)
DeleteNew Mexico landscapes are soooooooo inspiring!!

Happy PPF!!

I am your newest blog follower, too! :)
ReplyDeleteCool! Thanks.
DeleteLooks really well done! And in the car you say? Wow!!!! Hppf!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. The car wasn't MOVING! I just happened to be stuck there due to an unusual set of circumstances. The problem is that I was facing the setting sun and it took me an extraordinarily long time to figure out that was why I was having trouble seeing. Once I hung my tote bag from the rear view mirror, the car was a great place to paint :-)
DeleteThat looks gorgeous! Continue being happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, that's sweet.
DeleteHi from New Mexico!! Love what you did with the mountains.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Hi, Linda. We didn't make it to Albuquerque this trip. Or Santa Fe. Would like to get there some day. New Mexico is a BIG STATE :-)
DeleteThe colors came out perfectly--I'm not surprised Birdie recognized it right away.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely! Great to have your travel supplies ready and raring to go.
