One of the things I learned during CZT training was that inspiration is all around you. Birdie had a diving meet at Wright State University this weekend and this is the wall you walk past to get to the natatorium.
My first thought was, "Wouldn't that be an interesting string?" Birdie is a beginning diver, so watching her fellow competitors held little interest. Instead of following the divers, I tangled.
This week's Diva challenge was to use "earth" as an inspiration in honor of Earth Day. I didn't want to be too cliche, but knowing that the earth is 70% water, I figured I could use this same string for 3/4 of a circle.

Where are some interesting places you've found tangle inspiration?
I see love and attention in your drawings!
ReplyDeleteThanks. What a lovely thing to say.
DeleteBeautiful image!!! A great idea very well executed.
ReplyDeleteI love the layers like the strata of the earth.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully done Cris! I think you have made the world happy with your beautiful tile!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! This is so colorful and I love the bubbly water and luscious greenery!
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of the waves on the top tangle and the geological layers below it. On the second your colors are just beautiful with a great balance of large and small, and circular and other more linear shapes.
ReplyDeleteWow, waves, water, both tiles are winners!
ReplyDeleteLove both of your creations...very organic and earthy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! And I have also found "strings" in interesting places...motel carpets for one!! It is fun how you see patterns EVERYWHERE!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. It is so nice to have one's work enjoyed. Jay, my DD and I always seem to find interesting patterns in hotel carpets! And with the zendala craze going on these days, I've started checking out hubcaps for inspiration. Some of them are quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are very nice, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with the colors. Lovely work.
