Fighting Perfectionism

Lefty
Well, the Diva's done it again.  Another challenge more challenging than the rest.  I have a very bad habit of being a perfectionist.  Even with Zentangle, which is supposed to be relaxing.  I tend to gravitate more to Zentangle-Inspired Art.  I have more control and a general idea of that I want it to look like.

So, when the challenge this week was to do a Zentangle with our non-dominant hand, I took it as the perfect opportunity to do a Zentangle without worrying about it being perfect.  After all, I'm a perfectionist, not a masochist.

It was an eye-opening experience.

This was a fun challenge and I actually like my work (especially from a distance!)  I'm going to use it in my classes to show that if you can hold a pen, you can Zentangle!

  3. Excellent! I love the idea of using this in your classes...if you can hold a pen you can draw a zentangle, even if it's in your non-dominant hand! Wonderful example.

  4. I tend to float to ZIA too - and for much the same reason! Great job you did on the challenge, however!

  5. Thanks to all. I truly enjoyed this and am keeping it on my desk as a reminder that Zentangles truly are beautiful, even if they are simple and the lines are crooked. That is truly a calming thought.
